The Opportunity: Formed in 2007 by a group of women with music business connections, Women Rock For The Cure™ (WRFTC) fights breast cancer by tapping into the passion and creativity of the entertainment industry to promote awareness and raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Greater Nashville. Latocki Team Creative was approached to create a brand for the organization that would reflect its ties to breast cancer awareness while helping it stand out as a unique group.
The LTC Approach: Since WRFTC's roots are in the entertainment industry, we wanted the brand to convey youth, fun and a little edginess. We started by taking the color pink, which is so closely associated with breast cancer awareness, and we intensified it to create WRFTC's signature hot pink. Then we chose a font for the group with a rock-and-roll edge. The look sends a clear message that this is a fun, exciting group – and not your Mother's breast cancer awareness organization.
The Results: With its unique look and clearly defined mission, WRFTC has won the city's support and garnered media attention from local TV and print media (e.g. Music Row, Nashville Scene, Her Nashville, Nashville Lifestyles). LTC has continued its partnership with WRFTC by creating for-sale merchandise and branding group events, like Opry Goes Pink, the Pink Trash Ball and the annual Women Rock For The Cure™ concert. We also are proud to support the group as a sponsor and donate our brand management and creative services.
